DVSA Format Audit

A DVSA Format audit. Taking an objective view of the administrative side of your transport operation in the same way an official auditor would.

The auditor would produce a detailed report of their findings. As part of the report, the auditor will include a list of recommendations / policies and procedures that would bring your operation back into compliance. Reports are generally available within 5 working days.

Our DVSA format audit includes reporting on the following.

  • Operators licence. its Status and entity
  • Transport manager / responsible person
  • Vehicle Maintenance procedures
  • Drivers hours and working time (EC)561 2006 / RTD 2005
  • Operational management
  • Driver Management
  • Training and driver behaviour
  • Driver policies

The auditor would usually require half a day to inspect your operational documents and would require the presence of the transport manager or responsible person.

The benefit of having someone casting an objective eye over your transport operation is obvious once you know where the short comings are, you can act to bring the operation back into compliance, giving you the peace of mind that your operation can stand up to scrutiny if challenged.

The audit report can also prove to the traffic commissioner that you are taking a proactive approach to maintaining the undertaking of your operators’ licence.

Standard National & International Operators

Running vehicles for hire and reward is time consuming work and sometimes it seems that operational compliance is not the main priority, meaning that compliance standards are not kept up with. The traffic commissioner expects that all operators take a proactive approach to maintaining compliance with all the undertaking of their operator’s licence, at all times.

At TRANSCOM SERVICES we specialise in helping operators to maintain the compliance standard expected of a Standard National / International operator’s licence.

Many operators can find themselves, once challenged by the DVSA, or Police, fall short of the expected compliance standards as set out in the undertakings of their Standard National / International operator’s licence.

This could lead to:

  • Having extra conditions imposed on your licence
  • Additional DVSA site visits to check compliance
  • A reduction in number of authorised vehicles/trailers
  • Suspension of your operator’s licence
  • Disqualification from being a director
  • Damage to your company’s reputation
  • Most operators find that having an independent audit is the best way to maintain the strictly enforced compliance standards expected of them.

Restricted Operators

TRANSCOM SERVICES understand that in most cases the transport operation of a restricted licence holder is ancillary to the core part of a business. Even though a restricted licence holder is not required to employ a dedicated transport manager even though every aspect of your transport operation is expected to maintain the same compliance standards as a standard national / international operators licence holder. This can be difficult to do in the absence of an experienced qualified transport manager.

It is your business. Do not let all your hard work end with a visit to the traffic commissioner

Even the simplest slip up could cost your restricted operator’s licence and even your livelihood.

We understand that it can be a challenge to keep up to date with the detailed and strictly enforced regulations that every commercial vehicle operator must adhere to, TRANSCOM SERVICES is here to help.
